1.4 Using SiteServer Commerce

If you are using SiteServer Commerce Edition (SSC) you will need to build the foundation for the Commerce Site using the SSC Admin functions and then add the XASP sources. This §outlines the steps for doing this. Note that XASP is modular with respect to SSC and in general you can repeat this process later as needed after you have customized the XASPs, however doing so will wipe out any changes so you must backup your changed sources first.

Although it is not a requirement, we generally assume that you will be using VisualInterdev(VI).

Make sure you use the same ODBC DSN you set up for the E-Catalog for the database to be used with the site. Our normal practice is to have the SSC tablespace and the E-Catalog tablespace in the same database though the two are logically distinct and MS specific dataitems like shopper-ids, etc. are never stored in the E-Catalog.

The steps below are general and should give sufficient guidance, but you may need to adapt to your specific design. Items starred are currently ignored by XASP, but we've listed the selections we normally take. In general these features can be used if you do the programming.
