3.2.1 Using the Data Collector

Initial data collection can actually proceed before anything else other than the initial configuration is done. The E-Catalog needn't even exist.

Selecting ``E-Catalog Data Collection'' in the main menu will lead you to the Data Collection which has 9 tabs.

The first six tabs take you thru the specification of the context information needed to process the tables (Excell spreadsheets) containing the catalog content in a ``wizard style''. The first tab shown in the figure above can be used to retrieve an existing table.

The ``Table Prep Worksheet'' and ``XASP Batch'' tabs do the main work in the collection and proofing process. When you enter the specs in the form above for an existing table, you are automatically taken to the Table Prep Work sheet.
