3.4 Creating the Core Hierarchy - Sending Product Groups to the Catalog

If you are installing the sample data, the next step is to form the core of the catalog hierarchy and this requires that you be logged on and that the catalog kernel has been sucessfully initialized.

If this is the case then you can proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the ``Data Collection Form''(Fig. 3.1).
  2. Select the ``XASP Batch'' tab (Fig. 3.6).
  3. Press the ``Create Product Groups'' button. This tab is only enabled on your first use of the form.
  4. The product groups will be created and a log of the activity will be produced as well as some informative pop-ups.
  5. Next, press the ``Scan Objects'' button. Again a log will be produced and you should examine it to see that it looks OK.
  6. Now end the DataCollection form and select ``Build E-Catalog'' (Fig. 3.10) from the main menu. At this point you must be logged on.
  7. In the form that appears, select ``Send Product Groups''. After processing you get a display of the number of records processed.

At this point you have executed a special case of the batching process and the catalog hierachy has been formed. You can verify this if the web app is installed by examining the content. If you are installing the sample data, proceed to the next section.

You may wish to exit the app at this point and backup your MDE file.
