1.4.1.2.2 Device

Device is a simple abstraction of the real devices present in the system.

There are currently two types of basic Device ``Machine'' meaning the centrifuge or ALX and an optical instrument of which up to three may be in use simultaneously with the same machine. W

In this design, at this time, devices are largely static once connected and fully identified but their properties are determined at connect time and are not intrinsic in the MD.

The Singleton and Multiton patterns are applicable to the Machie and Optics device types, respectively.
